Further proof that Holland needs to go. Those anchors of contacts and keeping vets over youth is killing this team. Luke the Neilson and Vanek signings, though. |

Blashill isnt happy with the defense. well thats a shocking development. the group is garbage from top to bottom because everyone is slotted too high because there isnt a top pairing defenseman on the team. Kronwall is coming back, that should fix everything (sarcasm) |

Poor Mrazek. He's really being hung out to dry. He was the only bright spot in this game. I think Babs was talking about the Wings when he said "there will be pain." Good Lord that was an embarrassment for the Wings. They made the Panthers look like the 1995 NJ Devils. |

I'm not really up to speed on players in the pipeline for Detroit, but it seems to me that some really questionable decisions were made just prior to the season starting. You don't always play youth over experience, but when the experience included players like Ott, don't you roll the dice and take the risk? |

I would be if it was a mcdavid / eichel year. But nolan Patrick isn't nearly on their level. This year is super weak |

It's just a complete mess. Inferior head coach. Too much line shuffling. Defense is terrible. Mrazek is being hung out to dry. Too many pointless free agent signings. Lots of NHL ready talent in Grand Rapids. Mantha, Bertuzzi, Russo and Coreau. Holland doesn't make any trades. The team is capped out. Too many over paid long term contracts. Too many average players and no stars. I hate being so negative about this team but what hope is there right now? The Wings need to do what the Leafs did and blow it up and start over. But they won't. They just keep moving deck chairs around on the Titanic. It's just so frustrating. I know this team isn't very good. But it shouldn't be this bad. But then again, maybe it should be. I think for most Wings fans, including myself, it's hard to accept that this team is just not good anymore. The reality is sobering. |

I never thought I'd see the day where I was jealous of the Leafs. That day has come. They have a bright future and will only improve. The Wings will continue getting worse. |

We all knew the day would come and we would just simply be not very good... most because of late picks, the Wings have done really well in the development department, however they only ever had to plug a few holes...
NO ONE is Nhl ready enough to make this team competitive on their own. KH wont get fired, but I think it would be in the organizations best interest to move him up the ladder to VP or something and get some fresh blood in the GM chair and just announce a full on rebuild.
I dont think this team is as bad as they played the last two days, but I dont think they are as good as they should be on paper.
It is just constant laps on d, after constant lapse on D. Were soft, half of our forwards are slow and they say all the right things, but this team needs a MAJOR trade the only player being safe would Larkin.
There is no one, including Mrazek that I dont think is easy replaceable... this team is officialy back in the 85' range for any of you kids around to remember that era. |

The demise is solely on holland and has nothing to do with late picks.

Holland no longer has Mike Babcock to make his team look better than it really is. All those Red Wings fans who couldn't wait for Babcock to leave...careful what you wish for. Bottom line is this team lacks star talent especially on defense. Holland's team has been getting progressively worse since 2009. If he's going to be given most of the credit for the Red Wings success over the past 20 years, then it's only fair he take most of the blame for the lack of success now. |

Agreed. Holland is too loyal to poop players and gives up prime futures like Chychrun to make space for more vets. It's time to collapse and rebuild. |

Maybe they'll tank next season and draft Svechnikov's brother 1st in 2018. He's said to be of the Ilya Kovalchuk skill-level. |
